Ham and Vegetables: A Delicious and Nutritious Combo
Ham is a type of pork that is commonly used in dishes like sandwiches, salads and soups. It is a popular meat in the United States and is considered a staple in many households. While ham may be the star of the show, it's not the only thing on the plate! Vegetables are an important part of any meal and can add flavor, texture and nutrients to any dish. In this article, we're going to take a look at some delicious and nutritious recipes that include ham and vegetables.
One of our favorite recipes is Ham and Vegetable Frittata. This dish is easy to make and can be served for breakfast, lunch or dinner. To make this frittata, you will need: 1/2 cup diced ham, 1/2 cup chopped vegetables (such as spinach, onions or tomatoes), 6 eggs, 1/4 cup milk and salt and pepper to taste. First, preheat your oven to 400 degrees F. Then, in a large mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk and salt and pepper until well combined. Next, fold in the diced ham and chopped vegetables until evenly distributed.
Grease an 8-inch baking dish with cooking spray or butter then pour the egg mixture into the dish. Bake for 20-25 minutes or until the edges are golden brown and the center is cooked through. Serve warm or cold with a slice of toast or fresh fruit.
Another great recipe that includes ham AND vegetables is Ham Fried Rice. This dish is hearty, flavorful and filling! To make it, you will need: 1/2 cup diced ham, 2 cups cooked rice, 1/4 cup frozen peas & carrots mix (thawed), 2 tablespoons soy sauce, 1 tablespoon olive oil or vegetable oil, 1 egg (beaten) and salt & pepper to taste. In a large skillet over medium heat, heat up oil until hot then add diced ham. Cook for 4-5 minutes until browned then add cooked rice, peas & carrots mix and soy sauce. Stir everything together until ingredients are evenly mixed then push mixture to one side of pan so there is room to scramble egg. Add beaten egg to empty side of pan then scramble until cooked through. Salt and pepper to taste then serve warm!
Ham is a great way to get protein into your diet but it's also important to include plenty of vegetables too! These recipes are delicious examples of how you can enjoy a healthy meal that includes both ham AND vegetables!
